I have tried blogging off and on over the years. The only thing stopping me from writing a librarian blog has been coming up with a clever title. For now, the title of this blog will be Life in the Library- but if you have clever ideas, please let me know!
So what gave me the need to blog now?
I went to the ISTE 2018 conference last month and came away with a lot of learning. One of the most surprising things I found there was not related to the library in a traditional way, but would be something my teachers would benefit from learning about.
Numberella is a super fun math game that combines technology with a physical game, allowing teachers and students to practice math, particularly mental math, skills. I have been participating in their summer launch challenge and enjoying it immensely.
So why write a blog post about it? Something you likely don't know about me is that I grew up acing math classes and hating every minute of it. I have always excelled at math, but never enjoyed the process. However, Numberella has been quite enjoyable for me. Something about this game, which has included both solo and team components, has me anticipating when I will get to answer the next question.
I think there are still students, who like me, do well at the process, but don't enjoy it. I believe Numberella has the chance to insert that little bit of fun that makes math more compelling for those of us that may rather be reading. ;)

Tell them I sent you!
